If you own a domain, watch out for this scam!  If you have employees that are responsible for paying bills, make sure they know about this scam, too!

Attached is the image of an invoice received.  It is designed to trick – slam I believe is the modern term – you into changing the registrar to the scammer company.  Although the invoice does mention switching to their services, it also has text designed to try to scare you into thinking that you’re about to lose your domain.

It also mentions “Best Savings”

Note that their cost per year is $45 – I pay somewhat less than $15 per year per domain for my domains.  So this “invoice” is at a whopping 3 times the competitive rate for domain registrations.  That’s their “Best Savings?”

Please note that iDNS is not the only company doing this scam.  I used to get these from Network Solutions, the original ICANN domain registrar, after they went private.  That’s why I would never, ever do business with Network Solutions.

Also please note the domain for idns: it’s a .ag domain, which is for Antigua/Bermuda.  Good luck getting any Federal agency to chase them when you get scammed.  It wouldn’t surprise me if they collected your credit card information and sold that off too.  Do a google search for “idns” and you’ll find plentiful references to their scam!

Be careful!  Pay attention!  Recognize the scams for what they are!
